Volunteers Needed for Benthic Macroinvertebrate Studies

The Deerfield River Watershed Association is seeking interested volunteers to participate in our 2007 macroinvertebrate monitoring program
by collecting critters that live int he river bed.   

Collecting the critters is a lot of fun and you are under the supervision of aquatic entomologist Michael Cole at all times. You get to know parts of the watershed you've never visited before, and you get to know the bugs who live in the river--fly fishermen take notice!

This year's sampling will take place on the North River on:

• Friday September 21
• Saturday September 22
• Sunday September 23

Starting in 2008, DRWA will begin a vernal pool certification program in the Massachusetts portion of the watershed. To get more information or volunteer in the program, contact Pat Serrentino at 413-772-0520.
